Honors Project: There are 7 parts to the Chemistry Honors project. Each one will count towards the Honors Grade, which is 10% of each quarter grade. A detailed outline of expectations and rubrics will be given.
Tardies:
You will be counted tardy for class if you are not inside the classroom when the bell rings. We will follow the Heritage HS tardy policy. Please be on time to class so that you do not disrupt your fellow students nor miss any important information.
Absences:
If you are absent you are responsible for making up any missed assignments. Copies of handouts can be found in the sick tray on the shelf or on the class website. You can also check with classmates for notes (but do not copy notes during class). You are also responsible for turning in assignments that were due during your absence. Please check with Mrs. C regarding missed tests, quizzes, or other major assignments. These can be made up after school, during Husky Help, or at lunch.
Classroom Policies and Procedures:
Electronics: Electronic devices will only be allowed under the direction of Mrs. Cowley and for science purposes only. In accordance with Board Policy 2313/3013/4013 and the 21st Century Act all students will be trained annually in Internet safety. School districts are required to educate students about: Appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms. Cyber bullying and awareness and response.
Late work policy: Late work must be turned in ASAP, as it is difficult to catch up once you fall behind. Late work will be accepted for 60% of the earned grade. ALL late work must be turned in by the school approved late-work deadline.
Test remediation and recovery: Retake tests must be done within one week. In order to take the recovery test, a student cannot have any zeros within the given unit and must complete remediation for the unit. Recovery tests can be taken during Husky Help, before or after school, or during lunch.
Honor Code ( INTEGRITY): All students are expected to adhere to the Husky Honor Code. In science, students must complete their own lab and fieldwork conclusions. Students are only allowed to share data with group members, as approved by Mrs. C. Any conclusions and analysis must be completed individually. Quiz, test, and homework questions and answers are not to be shared by any means (including pictures), either during or after the assessment. Any violations will result in consequences as stated in the Heritage High School student handbook.
** I look forward to a great semester! I have a passion for science and my hope for you is that you grow and develop a deeper understand of why and how CHEMISTRY matters!
